Creeping Foxtail

Creeping Foxtail is a large, long-lived, rhizomatous, sod-forming, perennial grass that is very well suited for pastures and hayland as well as use for erosion control. Due to the fact that it doesn’t go into summer dormancy it produces high yields of palatable forage for livestock all season long even in the hot summer months when the leaves of the plant still remain green. In addition to live stock it also carries some wildlife forage qualities as forage for deer as well as geese and other waterfowl. Not only does Creeping Foxtail provide palatable forage but its vigorous rhizome production and water tolerance make it excellent for erosion control as well as stream bank stabilization. It also has good drought tolerance and has tolerance for a broad range of soil pH levels.
