Bi-color Lespedeza

Out-of Stock

Bi-color lespedeza was introduced to provide food and cover to wildlife and game animals such as ring neck pheasants, bobwhite quail, turkey, cottontail rabbits and whitetail deer. When allowed to grow naturally this shrub lespedeza can grow to be 8 – 10 feet in height but only ranges from 4 – 6 feet in height if the stems are cut back still providing an excellent source of cover for big and small game animals. In addition to providing cover it produces hard seeds that last into the fall and winter which are desirable food source for pheasants quail and other wild birds. In addition to providing quality seed for birds, whitetail deer and rabbits often graze on the foliage of the plant. Not only are wildlife attracted to this lespedeza but honeybees are attracted to the pinkish purple flowers which bloom in the late summer making it a valuable plant to beekeepers. It is best used as field borders and along woodland edges but can also be planted in individual hedge rows.
